Searcy Denney partner, Brenda Fulmer, was recently interviewed by Lawyers.com about her battle to alert patients about the dangers of Pradaxa. Reports of patients dying from uncontrolled bleeding or suffering severe injury have been discovered.
Pradaxa was put through only a single study by the manufacturer before it was admitted to the market, but since then, the FDA has received increasing reports of adverse events associated with the drug.
Attorney Fulmer has concerns about patients’ rights in the event they suffer injury or death caused by Pradaxa. Claims for death or injury have statutes of limitations associated with them. In other words, if a patient fails to file a lawsuit before the expiration of their state’s statute of limitations, they may lose the ability to pursue their claims. Attorney Fulmer warns that statutes of limitation vary from state to state and in some cases are as short as one year.
